Exciting News!

Post by Neosoft Support »

NeoSoft has reached an agreement with SinLios Soluciones Digitales S.L. to take over the development, sale and marketing of NeoBook, NeoPaint and NeoAppBuilder. In addition to rebranding the software, SinLios plans to begin an aggressive marketing campaign to raise awareness of these useful products and grow the user base. Luis Hernández Peña, General Manager of SinLios, will share his roadmap for the future of the three products here and at a new website/forum to be opened soon. Luis has been active on this forum for quite some time, so most of you already know him.

I am confident that this arrangement will bring new energy and focus to NeoBook, NeoAppBuilder and NeoPaint and allow them to grow into the 21st century.

This change will take effect September 1st 2018.

That is very exiting to read. Hopefully upgrades won’t be too expensive for us old time users 😉

Hello Dave and Luishp,

That are very big News!
Congratulations to Luishp for his new Business.
I hope Dave is well. Will he be no more involved in development?
Anyway: It was/is a great honor to work with him and his products since the DOS days. It was learning from one of the best!

Questions:
Will the commercial plugins from neosoftware also offered by Luishp?
Will the rebranded product be compatibel with the existing plugins?
Will there be enough Delphi-programming resources to further develop the products?
Will the famous wish-list for neobook improements considered for future development?

For now that are the first question which come to my mind.

Future will tell.

Good to hear! I was concerned about my future programming efforts. Without Neobook, I was not sure what would happen.

It just a hobby with some business in the mix. I have developed an Accounting Program, Invoicing Program, Inventory Program, Membership Program and others for my use and others.

Thank you very much for your comments and good wishes!
Please, let me be clear:
Right now, in this precise instant, it is not about further development, it's about keeping this wonderful software alive.
I do really love Neosoftware products and I'm committed to do whatever necessary to it's sucess, but right now, it's not a business but an investment.
Steps must be done one by one.
Number one priority (again right now): rebranding and marketing.
I'm convinced the software must be perceived as something new as a key strategy.
Why? Because we need as many new people interested as possible. Try to think as if you find out this software for the first time: Most resources are outdated, plugins abandoned or difficult to find because they are dispersed among many sites most of them outdated too.
The idea behind the marketplace is having them all in one place while offering plugin developers and easy way to distribute and / or monetize their developments. The marketplace is not only for plugins but for templates and tutorials too.
Yes, old plugins will be compatible but we will not promote anyone outside the marketplace (even for security reasons).
This is not about NeoBook anymore, it is about VisualNEO.
This is a new start. A new opportunity.
Please note that this forum will be closed in the near future.
Anyone interested in VisualNEO please use the new one.
If you want to help, think about writing a guest post on the new blog (you can even promote your own business), sharing our publications in social media or publishing templates, tutorials or plugins on the new marketplace. Thank you!!
About Dave, he is quite reserved and I respect him very much but as far as I know he is fine :).
For more information, please use the new forum or contact me directly.
My best wishes.

Hi!
I'm an old neobook user. I hope the new business will invest in order to develop new possibility in neobook, implementing Neobook DBPro features, ReportDesigner features, more functions to manage objects and Hardware control.

Neobook is a very powerful software and a flagship in the "visual code" panorama, and give it new life must be do with passion, interest and hard work.

Good luck!
Michi

Started to use Neobook in 2003 when I was 12 to make interactive books. Coders saw me and smiled.
Nowadays I'm still using Neobook to create advanced and powerful softwares. Coders see me and say: «how did you make that?»

I do hope that all the content of this forum (neosoftware.com/community) will not be lost in the process. Lots of solutions to issues can be found here and this site can be a very helpful resource to someone looking for insight to the way the Neobook / VisualNeo program works.

Please think of a way that could be done while still making the product appear "new".

I agree with David. There is a wealth of information here that would take years and years to duplicate. It should be archived in some way.

As an “old user” as well, I’m glad VisualNeo is in motion.

Here is what I’d like to see:

1. Add-on/plug-ins created and sold by the company itself. All of us “old timers” have never seen any of the other developers stay around. I ended up only trusting in Neosoftware. But not much plug-in development was done. But I still trusted them to back up what they came out with.

2. There are features/functions that VisualNeo for Windows will need to bring it up to par with other tools, (for example more string handling options, etc. I’m sure lots of have lists of ideas.) I hope VisualNeo is brought up to today’s standards. Ease of use, but powerful and expected features/functions.

3. I am open to paying for an upgrade/upgrades as they happen, even a recurring model if need be, but VisualNeo has to be updated regularly, is reasonable to expect. (I have a piece of programming software that has monthly recurring for updates and all that is ever done (when something is done) it’s bug fixes and a rare feature that is not what users ask for... Needless to say I no longer pay for “updates”. Why should I have to pay for bug fixes in a version I already paid for?) ... I don’t think this is how VisualNeo will be run, but I’m being open and honest as a customer/prospect.

4. I want to get behind VisualNeo and promote it, talk about it, etc. but I have to admittedly see how things will be handled.

5. I’m hoping for the best, as well as wishing for it. I’ve loved NeoBook over the years and want it to live on, now as VisualNeo for Windows. :)

First of all I want to say so much thanks to Dave for such a wonderful program as NeoBook!

And also I want to express my gratitude to Luis that he took on this burden of further support of the NeoBook and other programs!
Good luck, Luis!
Russian users of NeoBook are ready to render any feasible assistance, if required.

I wish to make one remark ...

Yes, really good plug-ins are very few, but the ability to create plug-ins for the program should be available for third-party developers. This should not even be discussed.

Absolutely. The ability/option to allow other to create plug-ins should remain. i didn’t (and don’t) suggest otherwise. :)
